So the card read, welcome to Emily Kanana’s graduation Party, Venue,.. The beautiful Ridge Views Leisure gardens, time 2-6pm.
I arrived at the venue at 3pm just as requested by Mike, her boyfriend, who had booked me to be the event’s Photographer a month ago. Most of the people had already arrived at the venue, enjoying sweet Nyamachoma, rice n Mukimo.. Mike wasn’t there at the time and i was welcomed by Emily, the beautiful fresh graduate from JKUAT with a bachelors in Business IT.
I took a glass of water and picked my camera, ready to shoot but i was signaled “pia wewe lazima ukule”, just the words i needed after seeing the food. So i joined the queue was served and sat at a table with the rest of the guests under a tent, enjoying the sweet food coupled with fresh drinks. As soon i was done, i started my duty as the event’s photographer, and here is my photo story of this magical event. Enjoy..
How about we start with a kiss to you all from this beautiful angel?
after a nice meal, why not pose for a photo with the last bite in the arm.
She was the most photogenic in the event, i had to post this.
Mike arrived just in time with his family, before the speeches begun, and i loved this moment when he held his nephew.
He is the celeb in the family, and after a few minutes with Emmanuel, i could tell he has passion for photography too just like me and he became my assistant immediately.
After a few speeches from the guests, which were interupted by heavy downpour, the ladies entertained us with interesting celebratory songs as hot soup was served by the catering team (awesome service they’ve got).
Yeih!! Its cake time and who else to help Emily cut it than her mum after throwing such an awesome party for her daughter? All this time, my eyes were focused on the hat on the cake, that’s the part i wanted to eat, but so did so many other guys haha.
I managed to steal the lady of the day from the demanding crowd and took this photo of her before the big surprise. Beautiful, isn’t she?
Did someone crack the best joke of the year? The girls had to join in for this. It was a happy moment for them.
Meanwhile, there was tension at Mike’s table. As everyone else was enjoying the cake, the Boys were planing something.
So Mike called Emily aside and the MC of the day took the moment to grab a photo with them, and immediately after she left …
Mike went into his pockets, removed something, got on his Knees and poped the Magic Question
I cant explain the reaction on her face, so just see for yourself.
Ooh … she said Ye Ye … Yes!!! with Tears flowing from her eyes.
am still trying to figure out the right words to describe this moment here
As the ladies helped cool down Emily, whose face was full of emotions, it was a different thing on the Boy’s side …
Mike was in a paradise of his own, He finally did it.
It was a whole different party here. The Boys were celebrating saying “You are the Man”
A bouquet of flowers for the princess from this handsome young man. Did i forget to mention the lipstick on Emily’s chins from kisses by the girls? haha
A family Photo with their parents and you could tell that Mike’ mum is proud of him, by how she looks at him in the photo.. “That’s my son”
After this followed a few photo sessions then Emily asked, “Can we please do this again, with me not wearing my graduation gown?”
And he did it again, and she was still emotional
Even the rain drops couldn’t stop them
Yep, he is now engaged
Even Grandma was happy for her grandchild.
What an event it was. One of the best that i have attended this year. warm people, a beautiful party with magical moments. My grandma once told me, “when you go to the university, open your eyes, don’t just come with one degree at home.” Now i know what she meant, thanks to Emily.
I leave you with this photo of Emily and her fiancee … wishing them all the best as we wait for the wedding day.
Its a goodbye from me. Thanks for reading. I always love your feedback, so feel free to share and drop comments at the bottom … am yours fav photographer, Billy Miaron
